Darwin's Voyage

Darwin began his professional life with very little direction. He was classically trained in science, theology, and philosophy under the Victorian system, which typically emphasized the marriage of all three disciplines.  He was uninterested in becoming a pastor or a physician, and struggled to find a career that would interest him and that would meet his families expectations.  A fortuitous opportunity presented itself to him, and he soon became the Naturalist and Gentlman's Companion of the captain of the HMS Beagle.

This slide show covers some of the highlights of the early life and voyage of Charles Darwin.

It is followed by a number of "The Far Side" Comics by Gary Larson.
